Two-Time Grand Champion

Irwin FFA member Drew Tucker exhibited both the Grand Champion Hampshire Barrow and the Grand Champion Bred and Owned Hampshire Breeding Gilt at the National Junior Swine Associations (NJSA) Southeast Regional swine show held in Perry Georgia. Established in 2000 for youth under the age of 21, the NJSA is now the largest youth livestock organization in the world with more than 12,000 members. Drew's entries competed with other NJSA members from across the US. Irwin FFA Advisor, Ira Tucker said, "This is one of the largest and most prestigious swine shows in the country. This is no small task that Drew has achieved. He was competing against some of the top breeders and exhibitors in the country." The barrows were judged by Kent Bennington from Indiana and the gilts were evaluated by Bandon Yantis of Illinois. Drew is the son of Harry and Christine Tucker and the grandson of Johnny and Penny Tucker of Fitzgerald.
Indians Face Foe in First Round of Playoffs

The Irwin County Indians are Region 2-A Champions for the first time in 16 years after a hard fought 21-14 victory over the Atkinson County Rebels October 31. The Indians will face the Rebels again in the first round of the playoffs Friday, November 21. For more information about the playoff schedule, click here.
If you are interested in purchasing playoff tickets for the first home football playoff game, here is the process for reserving and purchasing your same ICHS reserved seats you enjoy during the regular season.
1. You can purchase your playoff tickets ($10.00) in person in the office of Irwin County High School at the following times: Monday (Nov. 17), Tuesday (Nov. 18) and Wednesday (Nov. 19) from 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
2. You will be given a general admission ticket and a ticket to get you into the reserved section with your current seat numbers.
Any reserved section tickets that are not purchased by Wednesday, November 19, at 3:15 p.m., will then be made available for sale to the general public.
Regular general admission tickets will not go on sale until Thursday, November 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the high school office.
***Only GHSA passes are accepted at gates for playoff games. No faculty passes will be allowed. (NOTE: Only babies in arms do not need a ticket.)
In support of the football team, the varsity wrestling and basketball seasons will be postponed until after the football playoffs. Any varsity event on the schedule will be postponed if a football game is scheduled for that week. All postponed games will be rescheduled and announced as soon as possible. The coaches and varsity teams are cheering for the Indians to bring a State Championship to ICHS. All Middle School Games will be played as scheduled.
One Act "Three-Peat" Region Champions

Congratulations to the cast and crew of One Act Play for winning the Area One Act Play contest for the third year in a row! All three cast members of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) were recognized by the judges. Joshua Wells was named Best Actor, while Luke Gamble and Grant Hudson were named to the All-Star Cast. This marks actor Luke Gamble's third consecutive Area championship and director Wendy McFarland's twelfth career title. They will be competing in the State One Act Play contest on Saturday, November 1 in Warner Robins. Public performance Tuesday, Nov. 4, 7:00 PM ICHS Auditorium. Adults $5.00 and Students $2.00.
State Champions Recognized

ICHS Track Star Jakyron Young out jumped all competitors at Region and then State to earn the Class A 2014 State Championship in the Triple Jump with 44.5 feet. Coaches Leigh and Brian Chestnutt presented Jakyron with his State Championship Ring during halftime at the August 22 football game. Also pictured (at left) are Superintendent Thad Clayton and Principal Kerry Billingsley.
The 2014 Lady Indian Tennis Team competed their way through the Class 2-A Region Champions to finally become ICHS's First State Championship Girls' Tennis Team in the history of the school. The coaches presented the team with their State Championship Rings during halftime at the August 22 football game. The 1-877-SAY-STOP toll- free hotline was created by the Georgia Department of Education. Students can anonymously report anyone who has a weapon, has threatened to bring a weapon to school, or has violated any other school safety rules. The hotline hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. all calls will be forwarded to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Callers will not be asked to reveal their identities.
