Irwin County FCCLAIrwin County FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) attended DISCOVER Leadership Conference on Saturday, August 26, 2017 along with hundreds of other students from around Georgia. Officers attending included Chelsea Champion (Chapter President), Lia Olguin (Vice President), and Katy Smith (VP of Membership). Officers attended workshops to hone their leadership skills and help them to succeed in the upcoming year as a chapter. The 2017-18 school year will provide students with leadership, community service, and personal growth experiences. Katy Smith said "FCCLA is the ultimate leadership experience, and has provides me with many tools and experiences that will carry me into my future career and family relations."

MAKE THE CALL AND STOP VIOLENCE IN YOUR SCHOOL

The 1-877-SAY-STOP toll- free hotline was created by the Georgia Department of Education. Students can anonymously report anyone who has a weapon, has threatened to bring a weapon to school, or has violated any other school safety rules. The hotline hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. all calls will be forwarded to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Callers will not be asked to reveal their identities.
