Work-Based Learning MeetingWork-Based Learning coordinators from the Georgia Southwest Region met in Irwin County on Tuesday, September 3, at the Irwin County High School CASE Farm. Hosting were WBL coordinators Denise Hamby and Shayla Johnson from ICHS, Sara Stuart of Fitzgerald High, and Sharon Lavender from Wilcox County High.

Hal Wiley, CEO of Fitzgerald High School College and Career Academy (FHSCCA), was the keynote speaker.

Wesley Paulk gave the region coordinators a tour of the Case Farm and Darrell Ross invited them to tour Osceola Cotton Gin Company. Irwin EMC provided cell phone Pop Sockets, card holders, and key chains for all attending as well as providing the luncheon prepared and delivered by Irwin’s own Lyndsey Phillips, owner of Our Daily Bread.

MAKE THE CALL AND STOP VIOLENCE IN YOUR SCHOOL

The 1-877-SAY-STOP toll- free hotline was created by the Georgia Department of Education. Students can anonymously report anyone who has a weapon, has threatened to bring a weapon to school, or has violated any other school safety rules. The hotline hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. all calls will be forwarded to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Callers will not be asked to reveal their identities.
